Twice each day the gravity of the sun and moon pull the the water out of Puget Sound and several hours later push the Puget Sound waters up high onto the beach. Throughout the Spring, Summer, and early Fall low tides are during the day. The lowest daytime low tides, some as low as -3 feet, typically occur in June and July.
Explore the fascinating intertidal zone with a Cama Beach Foundation guide. You never know what you’ll discover!
Our rocky, cobbly beaches aren't stroller or walker friendly so we have recently started throwing out a seining net to collect critters and temporarily bring them up to an aquarium located on the seawall so everyone can share the amazing sealife of Puget Sound.
