Significant parts of the septic system located in the lower beach level at Cama Beach State Park recently failed and the repairs will require extensive disturbance of the area. While Day Use will remain open, beginning Monday, February 26, 2024, the cabins, the store, and restrooms in the lower beach level will be closed until further notice.

In past years, Cama Beach Foundation operated the old-fashioned "Mercantile" or "General Store" at Cama Beach State Park. Our store was open to the public and located down on the beach, just north of the cabins.
Groceries, Souvenirs, and Gifts
The mercantile carried a variety of groceries such as chips, candy bars, beverages, ice cream, bubble gum, and candy. The “drug store” isle had soap, toothpaste, and other household items that were sometimes left at home. We also stocked a few camping and campfire supplies such as propane, hot dog roasting sticks, and s’more kits.

Our mercantile also stocked many toys: stuffed animals, puppets, beach balls, toy boats, and puzzles. We even had a “Kite Korner”.
Our bookshelves were filled with children’s books as well as natural history and guide books. The store had a variety of beautiful postcards, note cards, and quilted items by local artists. Many of our souvenirs were branded with the park logo, “Cama”, “Camano Island”, or the iconic Cama Beach cabins to help remind you of your time at magical Cama Beach State Park. |
Information & Cama Beach Resort History
When you visit the Cama Store, be sure to spend some time checking out the artifacts from the days when Cama Beach was a privately owned fishing resort. The resort's original "office desk" is a great place to get pamphlets about cabin rentals, park trails, tide information, and daily activities.
The old "resort office" is where you'll find sports equipment, games, and books that can be borrowed.
The old "resort office" also doubles as a museum. See the old-time resort mail boxes, cash register, adding machine, plates, utensils, and cookware. The old resort office is now decorated with a number of stuffed ducks, geese, swans, a bear cub, and a beaver.
