Cama BEACH ART Fest

7/30/2016

Saturday, August 20, 2016 | 12 PM - 2 PM
Cama Beach State Park

Be creative! Have fun at this annual celebration hosted by Cama Beach Foundation.

This isn’t your typical sand castle contest. There’s no sand and no contest.

We'll use only inanimate objects found on the beach (shells, rocks, driftwood) to draw or sculpt a temporary work of art ... then at 12:49 PM when the tide turns, watch the waves slowly begin to creep back up the beach.

At 2 PM all participants will be awarded ice cream certificates and each group will be eligible for a door prize.

While you wait for the door prizes, stop by the face painter's station.

The Cama BEACH ART Festival is FREE but a Discover Pass is required for parking (purchase a 1-day pass-$10 or an annual Discover Pass-$30 at the Cama Welcome Center). For more info, contact the park at (360) 387-1550 or www.discoverpass.wa.gov.

Lunar Triple Play

9/26/2015

Sunday, Sept 27 features an unusual LUNAR TRIPLE PLAY: the Moon and Earth come closest together for all of 2015, there’ll be a lunar eclipse, and it’ll be a full moon.
  • The eclipse begins at 6:07 pm.
  • The exact "supermoon" moment in 2015 when the Moon will be closest to Earth (a mere 221,753 miles apart) will be 6:46 pm.
... but we won’t actually see that because Moonrise isn’t until 6:54 pm.
  • The total eclipse begins at 7:11 pm.
  • The Moon will be perfectly full at 7:50 pm.
  • The total eclipse ends at 8:23 pm.
  • The eclipse ends at 9:27 pm.

The Cama Beach Foundation Dessert Social & Annual Meeting is Thur Sept 10th at 6PM.

The very special guest speaker will be Jacinto Caamaño! He's the reason the parks aren't on MacDonough Island. Caamaño died in about 1825 but Ranger Tom Riggs will bring him back to life for the evening. A not to be missed performance! Exciting, entertaining, educational.

If you can join us, please RSVP to jec@wavecable.com
