Did you hear about the close call Earth had this morning? An asteroid came pretty close this morning (the distance of the Moon to Earth x 3). Luckily for us an hour of the event was livestreamed and now that broadcast is online! http://live.slooh.com/stadium/live/large-asteroid-2004-bl86-makes-its-close-approach-live

Each year Washington State Parks have several "free days" when a Discover Pass is not required to visit a state park. The next "free days" will be Jan 18 & 19 in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

But why not purchase an Annual Discover Pass (just $30 plus fees) so you can visit your favorite state park any time you wish! http://wdfw.wa.gov/licensing/discoverpass/

2015 Free Days
Jan 18-19: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Mar 19: State Parks' 102nd birthday
Apr 4: Saturday Spring Day
Apr 22: Earth Day
May 10: Sunday Spring Day
Jun 6: National Trails Day
Jun 13: National Get Outdoors Day
Aug 25: National Park Service Birthday
Sept 26: National Public Lands Day
Nov 11: Veterans Day

Please note, free days apply only to day use (not overnight stays or rented facilities). A Discover Pass is still required to access lands managed by the Washington State Departments of Natural Resources and Fish & Wildlife on these days. Sno-Park permits are still required on free days at designated Sno-Parks during the winter season.

River Flooding

1/5/2015

There is a LOT of water going over Snoqualmie Falls tonight. It looks as if the river has just about peaked for this storm - but sometimes the predictions are off...

To see real-time flood info for the Snoq River: http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=sew&gage=squw1.

Closer to Cama, the storm seems to have missed some of the Stillaqumish River: http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/index.php?wfo=sew
